As the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election draws near, Hon. Azuka Okwuosa has formally declared his intention to contest for the top seat.
In a strategic move, Okwuosa has begun engaging with key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, seeking their support for his ambition.
The former local government chairman of Old Nnewi and two-term Commissioner of Works and Transport recently met with the APC Ward Chairmen Forum, where he outlined his vision for the state.
Okwuosa emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort within the party, stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure the party’s triumph in the forthcoming South Senatorial bye-election.
According to Okwuosa, the success of the gubernatorial election is heavily dependent on the outcome of the senatorial election, and the party must not let the legacy of late Senator Ifeanyi Uba go in vain.
He noted that his decision to vie for the governorship is driven by his conviction that he possesses the entrepreneurial capability and experience in government to effectively lead the state.
Okwuosa also emphasized the need for the party to adhere to the gentleman’s agreement on power rotation, which has been a longstanding tradition in the state.
He pointed out that the South Senatorial Zone must complete its tenure before the power shifts to the Central Senatorial zone, in order to maintain the established arrangement.
The APC chieftain’s engagement with the party’s ward chairmen and local government chairmen is seen as a strategic move to build a strong foundation for his gubernatorial bid.
With his experience in governance and his commitment to the party’s ideals, Okwuosa is poised to be a strong contender in the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
