Birthday Tribute to Peter Obi and Victor Umeh: Anaocha Icons of Purpose and Providence

Tribute

BY TONY OKAFOR

Today, July 19, marks the birthday of two remarkable sons of Anaocha — Peter Obi of Agulu and Victor Umeh of Aguluzigbo — neighbouring communities bound not only by geography but by consanguinity, affinity, and a shared destiny.

Interestingly, Obi is just one year older than Umeh — a reflection of how closely their lives and callings have moved in parallel, not only in age but in vision.

Their journeys have unfolded like twin rivers flowing from the same source — called to service, shaped by conviction, and often drawn together by providence.

These men are more than politicians; they represent conscience, clarity, and courage in a nation that continually yearns for principled leadership.

From the PDP to APGA and now the Labour Party, their political paths have intersected time and again — driven by ideals greater than personal ambition.

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential hopeful, is widely admired for his disciplined leadership, humility, and commitment to good governance.

Victor Umeh, former National Chairman of APGA and senator of the Federal Republic, has consistently advocated for political equity and amplified the voice of the Southeast( Ndigbo)/// in Nigeria’s national affairs.

Together, they are not just influential figures — they are Anaocha’s gift to Anambra and Nigeria: grounded, visionary, and deeply rooted in values that matter.

As they celebrate another year today, we honour not only their birthdays but their ongoing contributions — inspiring hope, integrity, and purpose in public life.

Happy birthday, Peter Obi and Victor Umeh. May the years ahead continue to enrich your legacy and strengthen the ideals you represent for Anaocha, Anambra, and Nigeria.
