Blord laments influx of substandard products into Nigerian markets, launches Blunt gadgets

The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Blord Group, Mr Linus Ifejika has lamented the influx of Substandard electrical and electronic products into Nigeria.
Ifejika said even in faraway China, manufacturers have identified Nigeria as one of the countries where they can dump their substandard products.
He stated this during the launch of a brand of electrical and electronic product named Blunt, under the Blord Group. He said he recently travelled to China while seeking partnership with Chinese companies for the product, but found that each company he visited always insisted that the quality of products meant for Nigerian markets were usually different from those of others countries.
He said: “There was an iPhone charger I bought in Dubai some years back, but up till today, I’m still using it. But I have same product which I bought here in Nigeria, and they always go bad after just a month or less of usage.
“When I travelled to China recently, I found out why it is so. Many of the companies have specific quality of their products which were meant for the Nigerian market. When I found that, I refused to enter into partnership with such companies for the production of Blunt products.
“Do you know that some of the power banks you carry are not same equivalent of power as are branded on them? Sometimes, they produce 10,000 MAH power Bank and write 20,000 on them and ship them to Nigeria.
“But at Blunt, we were able to find a company who are true to their words and we will be dealing with them as they have up to 2 years warrantees for some of their products.
“I have a name to protect as CEO of Blord Group, and I’m sticking my neck out in marketing every Blunt product to Nigerians with the assurance that they are guaranteed.
“We condemn bad product, and I want to say also that some regulatory agencies in Nigeria are not doing their work. When I wanted to register Blunt, a regulatory agency I approached were more interested in how much I will pay. They never requested for the product or even test it to ensure it meets standard.
“If you travel abroad and see good accessories, they last long, but if you buy same here, you’ll be reaped off. Some business men just travel to China and even tell a company how inferior they want a particular product to be, just so they can sell at a cheap price and still make huge profit. We won’t do that with Blunt.
“The Chinese company we are working with has been in existence for 37 years, but does not have a distributor in Nigeria. They said their products are expensive, and Africans don’t like buying them,” the businessman stated.
Products under the Blunt range, which were launched during the event included; power bank, air tag monitoring device, speaker, various types of phone charges, electrical extension and smart plugs, all of which were tested during the launch.
