Urum indigenes thank Soludo for wading into leadership crisis rocking community

The People of Urum in Awka North local government area have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state for wading into the leadership issues in the community with a view to bringing lasting peace in the area.

According to the people, the timely intervention of the governor through the state Ministry of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs no doubt averted impending doom that may have arise from the fall out of the 2023 election of President General and other executives in the community.

The President General, Honorable Chief Alloy Tabansi (Nwachinaemelu na Urum) stated this while speaking with Newsmen in the recent extension of the tenure of the executive of Urum Development Union

The Anambra state government in the 29th of March 2024, written to the Community notifying them of extension of the tenure of the President General and his executives for a period of three months to enable them make peace and see to the conduct of free and fair election.

Chief Tabansi who called on his people to remain calm and peaceful, enjoined them to use the Easter celebration period to reflect on their lives and on the need to forgive each other as well as embrace peace.

According to him, Peace is what brings development and so the entire community must work together without letting few disgruntled elements to impose their personal interest over the overall united interest of Urum people.

Hon. Chief Tabansi prayed that the resurrection of Jesus Christ bring more light, Greatness, Joy, Happiness and open more doors of blessings and development to the agrarian community as well as the state in general.

The Urum President General while commending the Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, and the National President of ASATU, Chief Titus Akpudo for their fatherly role in ensuring that Urum did not engulf in leadership crises, pledges to take relevant steps towards reuniting the entire people of Urum on one common goal.

He noted that already he has swung I to action to ensure that withing the three months extension, the community will have a legal executive that will pilot their affairs and take them to a greater height.

According to him, a Fifteen man Peace Committee has been set up to actualize the objective of the state government which is to have peace and progress in the Community.

The PG said the Committee is made of religious leaders from various denominations, outstanding men and stakeholders who will in less than one month work to return peace to the community.

Hon. Chief Tabansi said they are trusted and capable hands that will Within one month Unite everybody including the candidates that are in contest of the Executive positions and every other aggrieved persons.

Nwachinaemelu na Urum , also thanked the traditional ruler of Urum , Igwe B. O Nweke for all his efforts to also see that the community forge ahead as one united people devoid of crises and expressed his optimism that Urum people will in no distant time come together to celebrate the developmental projects of governor Chukwuma Soludo especially road Infrastructures.
