BREAKING: Senator Nwoye appoints wife of slain lawmaker, ADC Assembly candidate as legislative aide
News

Less than 24 hours after she lost the bid to replace her husband as member representing Onitsha North 1 State contituency, Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Senator Tony Nwoye has appointed the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs Justina Azuka as a legislative aide.
Azuka was appointed as Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the federal lawmaker.
Recall that Mrs Azuka had contested election for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency, previously held by her husband, Hon Justice Azuka, before he was kidnapped and eventually killed.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Sunday announced the result of the by-election, declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr Mimih Ifeoma Azikiwe as winner, while Mrs Azuka came closely behind.
THE RAZOR gathered that the idea of fielding her as candidate of the ADC was to empower her to train her three children left behind by her late husband. But with her loss in the election, Senator Tony Nwoye quickly appointed her as a legislative aide.
In a photo circulating online, Senator Nwoye was seen handing her an appointment letter.
When our correspondent reached out to the senator, he confirmed that he truly appointed her.
It was also gathered that her appointment came with a basic salary of N200,000, and this has been applauded by many who believe that the appointment will cushion the effect of the loss of the husband to her, and also cater for her family.
Mr Peter Mmeagana, an indigene of Anambra State who reacted to this praised Nwoye for being so empathic.
He said: “What Tony Nwoye has done is the empathy which many politicians in Nigeria lack. The idea of fielding her to replace her husband was the best, but you see how vehemently opposition came after the poor widow. At least with what she has now, she can keep her family.”
