Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has been making waves with her innovative approach to administrative leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of staff and students with her vision centred on “Feeling the Pulse of Students, staff and finding Solutions.” Prof Arinze-Umobi has embarked on a journey to understand and address the needs of the university Community.
Her inclusive administration style, which values the input and participation of all stakeholders, including SUG, NANS., ASUU, SSANU, NAAT and NASU, has fostered a sense of belonging and ownership among staff and students, one of the most significant initiatives under her administration is the recent approval of human capacity development for all university staff. This initiative offers free tuition for staff pursuing post graduate programmes, demonstrating Prof. Arinze-Umobi’s commitment to staff development.
A professor of empathy, compassion, and care, Prof. Arinze-Umobi recently approved a career transition Seminar on Retirement Planning to prepare staff for life after active service.
