The Anambra State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has inaugurated its state executive members, patrons and local government coordinators in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization in the state.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, was performed by the Southeast Zonal Coordinator, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), who urged members to maintain unity and inclusiveness in the movement.
Speaking during the event, Iyiegbu emphasized that the City Boy Movement is an inclusive platform and not limited to men. He noted that although it was his first time actively participating in an electoral process, he accepted the responsibility to serve as a bridge between people of the Southeast and the national leadership.
He acknowledged that the movement had faced criticism on social media but described such reactions as part of the political process. According to him, the Southeast region had lost much politically in the past and participation in the movement provides an opportunity to reconnect with the centre.
Iyiegbu also highlighted some infrastructural projects undertaken by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the appointment of Dave Umahi as Minister of Works had brought strategic benefits to the region. He cited ongoing work on major highways including the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway and the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, while expressing hope that more projects would follow.
Earlier in her remarks, the National Communications Director of the movement, Ngozi Okafor, said the City Boy Movement was established to support President Tinubu’s second-term agenda. She explained that the organization is a grassroots-driven initiative focused largely on youths and community-level engagement.
Okafor assured members that the national leadership of the movement would support Anambra State in advancing the broader political objectives of the organization, noting that the Southeast region occupies a unique position in the national political landscape.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Staff to the Zonal Coordinator and Head of Secretariat, Ambassador Elijah Onyeagba, urged the newly inaugurated local government coordinators and State EXCO to take the message of the movement to the grassroots. He stressed the importance of strategic political engagement and cooperation among states in the region.
In his address, the Anambra State Director Nonso Ozoemena described Dr. Iyiegbu as Anambra State’s contribution to the national leadership of the City Boy Movement. He called on members to run the organization without rancour and to promote decent political engagement while supporting President Tinubu.
Ozoemena also encouraged members to work collectively toward mobilizing support for the President, expressing confidence that loyalty and hard work would yield political dividends.
Meanwhile, Miss Ifeanyi Ifunanya, who represented the State Woman Leader of CBM, Adaora Soludo, welcomed participants and encouraged more women to join the movement.
The event drew supporters and coordinators from various local government areas across Anambra State.
