
Presidents General of all the communities in Idemili-North local government area of Anambra State have honored their predecessors as a mark of honour.
The community leaders who were led by the President-General of Uke Development Union, Chief Peter Onyejegbu, said the gesture to honour their contributions to community development in the state.
The event was attended by the serving Presidents-General of idemili North and six former Presidents-General, including Barr. Titus Akpudo of Eziowelle and former National President of ASATU, Chief Sir Emeka Mbagha of Nkpor community.
Others dignitaries who are serving Presidents General of communities in the local government area who a were at the event include: Chief Ikwuka Williams Okoye PG of Ogidi, Barr. Chimezie Obi PG of Obosi, Chief Ejike Okoye PG of Abacha, Dr. Julian Obiorah PG of Eziowelle, Chief Olikaeze PG of Oraukwu and representative of Nkpor PG.
The colourful ceremony was marked by by heartfelt speeches and warm tributes.
The past Presidents-General shared their experiences and offered valuable advice to the current leaders, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace with traditional rulers.
A moment of silence was observed to honour the memories of two former Presidents-General from Obosi and Umuoji, who tragically lost their lives during their tenures.
Gift items were presented to the past Presidents-General by the current leadership of the various communities. The Secretary to Idemili North Local Government Area and President-General of Ideani presented the gifts on behalf of chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka.
The chairman of the PGs forum, Chief Peter Onyejegbu described the event as a testament to the strong bonds and camaraderie among the Presidents-General of Idemili-North and a celebration of their collective commitment to the progress and well-being of their communities.
