Detention: Oba Youth Forum Raises Alarm Over Deteriorating Health of Akwa Akuko Tiwalu Aki, Father Suffers Stroke

News

The Oba Youth Forum (OYF) has raised the alarm over the deteriorating health of popular native doctor, Chief Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Akuko Tiwalu Aki.

President of the forum, Chief Onyebuike Okonkwo, who made the appeal, called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to grant amnesty to Chief Nwangwu to enable him access proper medical care.

He further disclosed that Chief Nwangwu’s aged father reportedly slipped into a coma and later suffered a stroke as a result of his son’s continued detention, urging the governor to intervene and secure his release.

The youths also appealed to the governor to consider the prevailing political climate, especially with the upcoming governorship election, by releasing Chief Nwangwu to enable him exercise his franchise and mobilize support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

They assured that if granted amnesty, Chief Nwangwu would not violate his bail conditions. They also pledged that Idemili South would massively mobilize for APGA during the election, vowing that no single vote would go to the opposition.

It was further gathered that the native doctor, who has been in detention and is currently facing trial at the Anambra State High Court, was rushed to Amaku General Hospital on Tuesday over an undisclosed illness.

However, sources revealed that he is critically ill and battling a heart-related ailment.

The native doctor was among several of them arrested and detained for several months over allegations of dubious involvement in preparing charms for criminals in the state.
