Former public relations officer of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and present special adviser on special duties to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Charles Esimone, Dr Emma Ojukwu has been appointed to oversee the public relations unit of the university.
A letter from the institution, which was sighted by THE RAZOR stated that the appointment takes effect immediately.
Dr Ojukwu confirmed this to journalists in Awka. He said: “I have today started overseeing the office of the Directorate of information and public Relations of nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
“The acting incumbent of the office who is a recently promoted deputy Registrar has been transferred out to another administrative unit.”
Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu is currently Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on public Relations and Special Duties but will now additionally be in charge of information management in the university.
Dr Ojukwu was the director of Directorate of information and public Relations from 2007 to 2019 when he was redeployed to the Department of political Science as Lecturer.
The aim of the redeployment is to strengthen information management in the university. Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu will continue to oversee the DIPR until a substantive Director is appointed by the university.
Dr Ojukwu has degrees in English language, Mass communication and political Science. He is married with children.
