As Anambra State continues to grapple with security challenges, it is imperative that Governor Chukwuma Soludo looks beyond manual efforts and embraces technology as a vital tool in the fight against insecurity.

The recent launch of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and the Agunechemba (Udo Ga-achi) security outfit is a step in the right direction, but it is crucial that the state does not rely solely on human efforts.

According to statistics, crime rates in the state have decreased by 15% since the launch of Agunechemba in January.

However, this progress is fragile and can be easily undermined by the inherent limitations of manual security efforts.

History has shown us that even the most well-intentioned security initiatives can fail due to human limitations.

The Bakassi Boys, for instance, were once hailed as heroes, but eventually, they became embroiled in political vendettas and score-settling.

In today’s world, technology has become an indispensable tool in the fight against crime. From AI-powered surveillance cameras to advanced tracking systems, technology offers a more efficient, effective, and sustainable way to ensure public safety.

A study by the International Association of Chiefs of Police found that the use of technology in law enforcement can reduce crime rates by up to 20%.

Governor Soludo must recognize this trend and invest in technological solutions that can complement and enhance the efforts of Agunechemba.

Moreover, relying solely on human efforts can lead to corruption and abuse of power.

As humans, the Agunechemba personnel are not immune to the temptations of bribery and other forms of corruption.

By incorporating technology into the state’s security framework, Soludo can reduce the risk of corruption and ensure that justice is served.

To achieve lasting security in Anambra State, Governor Soludo must think ahead and embrace technology as a vital component of the state’s security strategy.

This can be achieved by investing in AI-powered surveillance cameras and advanced tracking systems to enhance public safety, implementing a digital platform for reporting crimes and tracking incidents, and providing training and resources for law enforcement personnel to effectively utilize technology in their work.

By taking these steps, Governor Soludo can ensure that the state remains safe and secure for its citizens, and that the gains made by Agunechemba are sustained in the long run.

The future of security in Anambra State depends on this.

It is imperative that Governor Soludo acts now to harness the power of technology to secure the state, rather than relying on manual efforts that may eventually succumb to corruption and ineffectiveness.
