Anambra state elders , have called on the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to order for the repainting of buildings in Onitsha to beautify the commercial city and other semi urban areas.

They spoke under the auspices of Anambra Elders Forum (AEF) on Wednesday in a statement made available to The Razor in Onitsha.

The group said, the repainting and rehabilitation of buildings in the State would create not only aesthetic beauty for the urban cities, but also enhance socio-economic development of the State.

The statement was signed by the Director of Information of the group, Chief Uzoma Anunihu.

The elders forum said the repainting and renovation should take effect from August 2024 and end in December 2024, adding that it would give Anambra a befitting look during this year’s yuletide.

The group said some states in the county had gone ahead to implement the policy, saying that Anambra would have joined the League of Environmentally Clean States if it implemented the program.

“It will also create job opportunities for artisans in the State who will be involved in painting and Mason works.

AEF said, if Soludo carried out the programme in addition to the current strategic decongestion of roads in the State, he would have succeeded in turning Anambra into the most beautiful State in the country.
