Mr Chimezie Obi, newly elected President-General, PG, of Obosi Community, has said that unification of the town will be his magic wand to gain striking strides.

Obi said that peaceful resolutions of community conflict of interest is key to stabilising and sustainability of any development in a community.

The PG,said in an interview with The Newsmen in Awka on Monday, that Obosi town in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra is a densely populated community.

Obi said because of the density of the community it is not unusual to experience degrees of difference in thought, belief, actions.

He said that basef on human nature there may be conflicting ideas  with other school of  thoughts.

” I’ will seek peace among the feuding parties in Obosi.Where there is no peace, there is no progress.

“It is my intention to bring everyone  together  on a table of dialogue.

” Everyone residents in Obosi will be made to feel belong and have a say in affairs of their host community.

” I believe that the feel of onenss will motivate the people to be proactive in affairs of the community,” he said.

Obi said that it is his ernest expectation to first achieve peace and unity in the community  for team work and  security of the  town.

He said that When there is security, development and prosperity will come naturally to the community and everyone will enjoy friuts of the town.

Obi said he will operate an open door policy where opinion of residents will  count in his manner of leadership as all inclusiveness principles is a key tool.

He said there are plans on board to attract investments that will create jobs for the people   through involvements of industrious sons and daughters of the community.

” There are many of them who want to invest in the education of our children, empowerment, and employment of our youths and infrastructural development of Obosi.

” We will encourage them to come without fear of any hitches,we will assit to create enabling environment, seek out  capable hand they can trust and hold accountable,” Obi said.

The PG said that involvements of Women during his tenure will be total as Obosi Development Union,ODU,Women wing will have detailed areas to handle.

Obi said he will work and demand areas where he can collaborate with the women wing to promote the interest of the  women for the betterment of Obosi.

He said that Obosi community is made up of 5 villages, namely: Umuota, Mmakwum, Uruowulu Ugamuma and Ire.

He said that these villages would be represented in all his programmes for quality representation of their villages.

” when every village is represented in day to day running of the community affairs trust and commitment to achieve new heights is achieved” he said.

Obi said that Obosi is divided into  inland and Urban because of its  dense population who resides for easy access to their work places.

The PG  said for healthy relationship, growth and development of the community  urban area is integrated  to sustain spirits of oneness.

” They are non obosi people but reside in Obosi, so subject to Obosi Development Union,for harmonic living we work with them always,” he said.

reports that late Ikechukwu Okolo was Obosi PG ,who did not complete his tenure because he was assassinated on January 2, 2023

Obi was elected as  Obosi PG on 19th August  in an election keenly contested with three other persons.

The constesants scored the following votes,Mr  Henry Amalachukwu,11, Stephen Oluchukwu, 3, Joel Mgbeneme 5,Alex Ejindu 27.

Obi scored 106 to become the winner of the contest, all  constesants are from Uruowulu Village, whose turn it is by rotation arrangements to produce PG.

Obi is a legal practitioner by profession.
