Ezimezi Amawbia Bypass: A Shameful Symbol of Governance Failure

Opinion

By Tony Okafor

The Ezimezi Amawbia bypass’s deplorable condition is an indictment of Anambra State’s governance.

This critical road, neglected for years, serves a densely populated area with rapid residential and commercial growth.

Its strategic importance cannot be overstated, connecting key communities and facilitating economic activity.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “operation no potholes” promise, made over two years ago, now rings hollow.

Residents endure impassable roads, lengthy commutes, and economic hardship.

The dualization of the Amawbia-Agulu-Ekwulobia Federal Government road, while commendable, cannot excuse the neglect of this vital bypass.

Lawmakers from the area should draw inspiration from Senator Uche Ekwunife’s exemplary record.

During her tenure in senate, she attracted road maintenance projects to Amawbia and Anambra Central Senatorial District, demonstrating effective representation.

Residents demand action, not excuses. The neglect has severe consequences, including: increased travel times, congesting alternative routes and frustrating commuters; economic losses affecting local businesses and residents; and safety risks for pedestrians and motorists.

We urge the state government and lawmakers to prioritize this critical infrastructure project.

Governance is not just about making promises; it’s about delivering results. The Ezimezi Amawbia bypass is a test of Governor Soludo’s commitment to effective governance. Will he rise to the challenge?

The clock is ticking. Every day without action worsens the situation. We call on the state government and lawmakers representing the area to act now.

Only through collective action can we ensure the Ezimezi Amawbia bypass receives the attention it deserves, improving residents’ lives and the state’s infrastructure.

The people of Ezimezi Amawbia await tangible progress.
