Finance Company backs FG, CBN, on registration of POS Agents with CAC

~ Says the measure will restore confidence in POS operators and strengthen Nigeria’s financial sector.

 

INTERSWITCH Financial Inclusion Service, operators of Quickteller Paypoint, has aligned with the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, on the need to sanitize and strengthen Nigeria financial sector.

The company said that the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to sanitize and strengthen Nigeria financial sector have started returning confidence of the people to the Nigeria financial sector.

Speaking through its Development Manager, South East and South South, Mr Mutiu Bashiru, during the Quickteler Paypoint Agent Engagement Forum, titled” Compliance and Beyond: The Road to Financial Inclusion and Empowerment, held in Onitsha, Anambra State, the company said the Federal Government and CBN, directive for all Point of Sales, POS Agents, to have a Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC,s Account before September 5th 2024, was to ensure transparency, minimize fraud and to restore confidence of the people in POS business.

The company further stated the Federal Government and CBN’s other reasons for POS Agents, to have account with CAC was to reduce fraud, increase customers confidence, participate in government grants and to protect their business names.

He said that Interswitch is ready not only to assist them meet up with the Federal Governments and CBN requirement, but also to help make their business to be vibrant as well as exposed them to several opportunities yet to be explored by them to improve their business and welfares, and that is why it has to organize the Quickteler Paypoint Agent Engagement Forum for them in the state.

Interswitch listed the requirement for the CAC registration as, Bank Verification Number, BVN, National Identification Number, NIN, Name and Phone number of the operator, adding that failure to meet the requirements before September 5, 2024, will lead to blocking of their accounts.

Also speaking, Interswitch Business Manager for Anambra State, Mr Samuel Ngah, while commending the management of the company for organizing the Quickteler Paypoint Agent Engagement Forum, noted that the forum will go a long way to expose the agents on the dynamic of the business.

He promised that what the Agents have learnt and new information they got from the program will be put into practice to sharpen their skills in the business and commended the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo for giving the agents freedom to operate without molestation in the state.

Contributing, Mr Fayomi, Godwin, Anyaegbunam Emmanuel, Ogham Chinyere, all Quicktellers POS Agents in Anambra State, expressed happiness for participating in the forum saying that the knowledge they gathered from it will improve their skills, businesses and welfares.
