A devastating flood swept through Nnewi, Anambra State, on Thursday night, reportedly claiming the lives of four individuals, including a mother and child.
The floodwaters, triggered by a downpour, reportedly carried away the victims at different locations throughout the town.
According to eyewitnesses, two people were swept away in Nnewichi, one along Nnobi Road, and another along Nnewi-Onitsha Road.
The mother and child were returning home from a church service when the tragedy occurred.
Relatives of the victims are frantically searching for their loved ones, who have been missing since Thursday.
Dr. Madu Atuenyi, President-General of Nzuko-Ora (Nnewi Town Union), confirmed hearing about the incident but was yet to verify the details.
However, the Spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that no such report had been filed with the police.
The flood has caused widespread panic in the community, with many families affected by the disaster. The search for the missing individuals continues, with hopes of finding them alive diminishing by the hour.
