Former President of World Igbo Congress, Nwachukwu Anakwenze, becomes Regent of Abagana community

The former President of the World Igbo Congress, WIC, and presidential aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2023 election, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has assumed the position of the Regent of Abagana community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
An American- based medical practitioner and businessman, Anakwenze was until the elevation, the traditional prime minister of Abagana.
He said he was appointed following the death of their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Igwe Patrick Mbamalu Okeke, who recently join his ancestors.
He said the Regent certificate was given to him by the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs on Wednesday, adding that the position is expected to elapse in six months time.
He said: “Yes today, I wish to inform the entire World that I have been honoured with another prestigious position in my community. The good people of Abagana community have selected me to take charge of Abagana Kingdom for a successful period of six months and I promised I would effect a massive change in the community including bringing younger people into the Igwe cabinet.
“My administration within the period would prepare a lot of Abagana youths for future leadership. I will delightfully accept to assume kingship of Abagana if my people find me worthy, in accordance with my long time contribution to the development of the town.
“I was called back from my base in United State of America (USA), to come and hold the position for a period of six months to enable the community conduct election for the Igweship slot because nature abhors vacuum.
“My major interest, why I am still alive, is to make Abagana one of the best communities in Anambra State. I have been contributing my quota all these while and this new position will spur me to do more.
“I will help the widows by offering their children scholarship and we will continue with the medical outreach which we have been doing for years and make it a community project.,”
Anakwenze, however, ruled out the possibility of relocating permanently to the community if he eventually becomes the Monarch, saying that his community is rich in terms of the people that will be assisting him in the day-to – day running of the affairs of the community.
