Free Education: Soludo Orders Arrest of Truant Teachers, Pupils; Threatens Parents, Guardians

The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has directed arrest of truant teachers and pupils in the state.

Shedrack Azubuike, Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area announced the directives, citing instructions from Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo .

According to Azubuike, children found hawking during school hours will be rescued and detained until their parents are located.

Similarly, pupils loitering in uniforms during school hours will also be rescued and detained until their parents are found.

Azubuike added,”Teachers caught loitering or in markets during school hours will face arrest.”

The statement read in part,”The Governor has ensured free education for all primary and secondary school students, emphasizing the need for regular attendance.

“As a result, parents and guardians of children found violating these directives will face strict disciplinary actions.

“The new policies aim to promote a culture of learning and discipline in Anambra State’s schools.

“With free education now available, the government expects all children to return to school without delay. Parents are strongly advised to ensure their children attend school regularly to avoid facing consequences.
