Editorial

By Tony Okafor

In a bold and innovative move, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has launched the “Farm-to-Feed Campaign,” a sustainable initiative aimed at encouraging citizens to embrace farming as a solution to hunger.

This commendable effort is a testament to Soludo’s ingenuity and commitment to tackling the pressing issues facing the state and the nation.

As the Governor aptly noted, it’s time for action, not lamentations. The “Farm-to-Feed Campaign” is a call to citizens to take ownership of their destinies and turn challenges into opportunities.

By mobilizing individuals to venture into farming and agriculture generally, Soludo’s administration is fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility.

However, as we commend Soludo’s initiative, we must also remind the government of the need to provide agriculture inputs to farmers on time.

The success of this campaign hinges on the availability of essential resources, including seeds, fertilizers, and equipment.

Timely provision of these inputs will ensure that farmers can plant, nurture, and harvest their crops, ultimately leading to increased food production and reduced hunger.

The “Farm-to-Feed Campaign” is a beacon of hope in a nation grappling with food insecurity. It’s a shining example of how innovative thinking and collaborative efforts can lead to sustainable solutions.

We urge other states and the federal government to take a cue from Soludo’s initiative and prioritize agriculture as a national pride.

As the Governor emphasized, every citizen has a role to play in the campaign. We must turn every vacant piece of land into a farm, rent a space if necessary, and plant something.

By doing so, we can reduce the pressure on food prices, increase food production, and ultimately eradicate hunger.

Soludo’s “Farm-to-Feed Campaign” is a clarion call to action. Let us heed this call, work together, and make Nigeria a food-secure nation. The time for lamentations is over; it’s time for action
