Group Empowers 8 Women, Offers Free Medical Services In Nimo

A group operating under Nimo Women For Peace Foundation( NWFPF) has empowered eight people with N100,000 each to enhance their economic sustainability.

The empowerment program was held at Egwegwe Square, Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It also offered free medical services to no fewer than 100 patients drawn from the community and beyond as part of activities lined up to commemorate this year’s International Women Day(IWD).

President of the Foundation,Mrs Cecilia Isinenyi said the initiative which also featured Walk For Life and Fitness exercises aimed at strengthening women’s socio economic empowerment for healthy living.

While acknowledging support from a Non Governmental Organisation and spirited individuals for the activities,she underscored the importance of women Inclusion and empowerment.

“We empowered 8 women in various petty trading and then we empowered a girl child by name Chikamso,to procure her NECO forms. She came to us and appealed that we should help her”

Contributing, Mrs Jane Nwolise, Secretary Planning Committee of the Foundation, said they would intensity efforts to promote women’s empowerment, healthy living and girl child education.

She described the annual activities as impactful, noting also the importance of cervical and breast cancer awareness as well as other empowerment advocacy engagements.

Nwolise, then, assured they would continue amplifying issues affecting women to drive necessary actions to address their challenges.

A resource person who pleaded anonymity recommended regular medical checks, eating healthy by avoiding canned food items, alcohol intake, Junk food and stress.

While pointing out that excessive consumption of starchy foods and raw salt could trigger health issues, she advised elderly people to eat more of vegetables, natural food and exercise regularly.

Highpoint of the event was disbursement of cash presentation to the beneficiaries during which one of them, Mrs Ijeoma Pius, appreciated the Foundation for considering them worthy to benefit from the economic empowerment.
