The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe has advised critics of security situations in Anambra State to first appreciate what the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo is doing in that sector.

Obigwe’s admonition followed a comment by Prof Dennis Aribodor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University wherein the don reportedly attributed the insecurity in the state to non-conduct of Local Government elections in the state.

Reacting to Aribodo’s comment, Obigwe said the university teacher was just being economical with the truth.

Obi said,” It is unfair for anybody in Anambra State as at today to talk about insecurity problem in the state without first appreciating Governor Soludo administration for the success it has recorded in tackling it.”

“Even if you single out ihiala Local government, any person that wants to be truthful in discussing the security problem in ihiala will commend Governor Soludo’s administration for the success they are achieving almost on daily basis in tackling insecurity problem in ihiala.

” In the past, it was a case of unknown gunmen killing security agents any how they like but of recent the dreaded unknown gunmen who attempted attacking the Military in ihiala paid with their lives.

“They also attempted to attack Vigilante group operatives at Okija and lost their lives. The two incidents referred to happened recently at communities in ihiala local government.

He warned against armchair criticism, advising the people of the state, especially those who should know to avoid labouring in vain to stand truth on its head.

Obigwe added,” As far as the issue of security is concerned, Governor Soludo deserves to be commended for the way he is handling it that made Anambra unsafe for criminals.

He condemned the position of Prof Aribodor that Transition Committee Chairmen of Local Government Areas had no constitutional powers to do certain things, adding that TC chairmen were the creation of the Anambra State law enacted by the House of Assembly and by extension they had constitutional powers to perform their duties.

The APGA chief vouched that Soludo would conduct local government elections but that nobody should coerce him to do so, adding, “He will create a conducive atmosphere to enable him do that.”

Obigwe added, “For the first time in Anambra State, our roads are being constructed with walk ways and a guarantee to last for atleast 25 to 30years.”

While advising the people of the state, including Prof Aribodor, to learn to appreciate good things, Obigwe said a certain administration in the state could conduct LGA poll after spending almost eight years in office.

“So it is not yet late for Governor Soludo to conduct local government election so reminding him about his promise to do that is unnecessary because he has it in his mind.He will definitely conduct local government election but will not be blackmailed to do that,” Obigwe stated
