Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate in the November 8 Anambra poll, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has declared that he is the man to beat — and won’t be surprised if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares him winner.

Nweke, who described himself as “the Nigga in the race,” said he stands out for his courage, connection with the grassroots, and determination to challenge the status quo.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday shortly after a massive road show that drew a sea of cheering supporters, the AA flagbearer said the hopes of Anambra people were “summed up” in his candidacy.

“The people are convinced I’ll represent them well. They believe I’ll speak their language and lead with a human face,”

All their expectations are summed up in me. So no one will be surprised — and I won’t be surprised — when INEC declares me winner on November 8,” Nweke said.

On security, Nweke expressed optimism that the exercise would be peaceful, saying both INEC and security agencies had made adequate preparations.

“I don’t expect anything that will disrupt the process. Every possible situation has been taken care of by the security agencies and INEC.

“We expect security personnel to live up to expectations. No stone should be left unturned to ensure a free, fair and credible election — especially under the new INEC chairman who has promised that Anambra’s poll will be the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history.”

When asked how he would react if the results didn’t favour him, Nweke said he would take it in stride.

“If the people say I shouldn’t govern them this time, I’ll accept the verdict in good faith. Like I said before everything is a win to me. Even today’s outing is a win., he said with a smile.
