The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has assured of stability and smooth transition in its leadership, following the burial of its late President, Chief Emmanuel Iwanyanwu.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, expressed gratitude to Nigerians and socio-cultural organizations for their support during the burial of late President Iwanyanwo.
Ogene assured that Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains intact and united, with no leadership crisis.
He emphasized that the organization’s leadership structure and processes are clearly specified in its constitution.
According to Ogene, all leadership positions are zoned to states, not individuals, and the position of president is currently zoned to Imo State
The Vice President urged the Imo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to elect or appoint a replacement for the Ime-Obi, the highest decision-making body of the organization.
He appealed for calm and patience among stakeholders, allowing the Ime-Obi to handle the situation peacefully, in accordance with the organization’s constitution.
In addition, Ogene called on the Federal Government to take proactive measures towards the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
He emphasized that effective security and stability are essential for socio-economic growth and development in the southeast region ¹.
Ogene urged southeast governors to collaborate in establishing effective security apparatus to enhance efficiency and sustainability in crime fighting.
He reassured that Ohaneze Ndigbo remains committed to protecting and promoting the collective interests of Ndigbo.
