The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced online registration for ad-hoc staff ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
The commission announced that the application portal opened on Monday, September 15, and will remain active until October 5, 2025, for eligible candidates to apply.
Positions available include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Center (RAC) Managers, and Registration Area Technical Support staff.
INEC specified that applicants must be residents of Anambra, Delta, Enugu, or Imo states, except for technical support roles, which are strictly reserved for eligible ICT personnel of the commission drawn from state and headquarters offices.
In line with its guidelines, the electoral umpire stressed that prospective ad-hoc staff must not belong to any political party or be seen to be supporting any candidate in the election.
The eligibility criteria vary depending on the roles. Supervisory Presiding Officers will be drawn from civil servants in designated ministries, departments, and agencies.
Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers are expected to come from corps members, recent graduates, INEC staff, and qualified students of federal tertiary institutions.
RAC Managers will be appointed from staff of schools or institutions where election activities are hosted.
Interested persons are required to submit applications through the dedicated INEC web portal or via the official Android mobile application before the October 5 deadline.
The recruitment exercise, INEC explained, is part of ongoing preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the Anambra governorship poll.
