Anambra State’s new Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has reiterated his commitment to stabilizing the security architecture in the state.
Speaking on Monday in his maiden press conference, CP Orutugu emphasized his mission to fully reclaim the public space across the state and maintain law and order.
The commissioner condemned the recent gruesome murder of three siblings in Nnewi, where their bodies were found in a fridge.
He assured the public that the command would unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that the suspects are arrested and brought to justice.
CP Orutugu commended the state government and the people of Anambra for their collective efforts in condemning acts that threaten national peace.
He pledged to support the state’s Operation Udo Ga-Chi initiative, which aims to promote peace and security in the state.
Orutugu outlined his strategies to achieve his goals, which include utilizing intelligence assets to prevent and combat crime, working closely with stakeholders to ensure public security and safety, and engaging with the community to promote trust and cooperation in fighting crime.
He urged the people of Anambra State to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to continue supporting the police and other security agencies in combating crime.
CP Orutugu warned those involved in criminal activities to retrace their steps, as the command would deal squarely with all acts of criminality without regard for status.
