Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) has exonerated the commissioner for homeland, Mr Chikodi Anara from the crisis rocking Isuanaicha Community, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Public Relations Officer of AVG, Mr Nweke Nweke in a press briefing with journalists in Awka on Friday said some people from the community who are determined to smear the image of the Commissioner were responsible for a recent protest by the Indigenes of the community to Anambra government house.

Indigenes of Isuaniocha community had protested against their newly elected monarch, Igwe Mkpuorah Ngini, where the commissioner was accused of being among those imposing him on them.

But Nweke in the briefing said: “Ordinarily, we would have allowed the nonsense issue to die its natural death, but to keep the record straight, I will be uploading the undulated truth to you here.

“The venue of the Isuaniocha Women August Meeting held on Monday, the 21st of August 2023, was invaded, and the women forced to converge the following day (Tuesday) for the protest or pay 5,000 fine.

“Gentlemen, you are all aware that some disgruntled elements from the Isuaniocha have been trying to portray that the community is boiling, therefore having forced some law-abiding citizens of the area to go into a forced protest after they duly elected traditional ruler, HRH, Igwe (Barr.) Mkpuorah Ngini now issued with a certificate of recognition by the State Government.

“The information available has it that the protesters were led by one Mr. Fredrick Egwunwa who claims to be the Caretaker President of the town and publicly accused the Hon. Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Chikodi Anarah of imposing the monarch on Isuanaocha people.

“The claim is not only laughable but a total depict on the highest order but we have it on good authority that there is nothing like a caretaker committee in Isuaniocha as there is substantial President General, in the person of Chief Paul Okoye.”

Nweke in a press briefing with journalists in Awka on Friday mentioned the former President General of the community, Anthony Onyeagolu and his brother Festus Onyeagolu as this behind the crisis in the community, accusing them of also bringing in unknown gunmen who pose as AVG operatives into the community.

“Gentlemen, we are here to tell you that we have found out that a group of people who have been parading with guns in Isuaniocha community and claiming to be our operatives are fake.

“These people were contracted into the community by the same people who are responsible for the crisis in the community. Their gunmen are responsible for most of the crime in that community.

“We have notified the police, and we are getting ready for an operation in the area. We are considering disbanding AVG in Isuaniocha community for the time being, to enable us arrest all those impersonating us in the community. Security operatives in plain clothe are already in Isuaniocha now.

“Our commissioner, who is also the leader of AVG in the state is not from Isuaniocha. He is from Amanuke community. His only involvement in Isuaniocha is because he wants to ensure security there, using AVG operatives, which these same people do not want,” Nweke said.
