Joint security storm gunmen camp in Isseke, destroy bomb factory

A Joint security team operating in Anambra State has invaded the camp of separatist elements who wreck havoc in the state, attacking public facilities and engaging in kidnapping for ransom.

A local bomb factory within the camp, where the criminals manufactured improvised explosive devices were also destroyed during the invasion.

THE RAZOR gathered that the incident which happened on Saturday took place as Isseke in Ihiala Local Government Area. Isseke is one of the towns in Anambra where gunmen have sacked indigenes, taking over the entire space for their operations.

A press statement by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga revealed that one of the bombs which was positioned at the entry of the camp as a way to shield security agents from getting to them was detonated by the criminals during the invasion, causing heavy impact on the road, but no casualty was registered.

Ikenga said: “During the operation, a local bomb factory was destroyed, while assorted locally made improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and demobilized.

“One of the IEDs buried around the Camp exploded during the onslaught and created a destructive impact on the road. The IED acted as a shield to prevent the Joint Forces from accessing the facility.

“Security forces have sustained the operational security dominance and advancement aimed at fully reclaiming the area from the criminals.

“The Criminal Camp is one of the last strongholds of the secessionist group that was impregnable for over two years which the hoodlums used to wreck havoc in the State.

“It is pertinent to report that no life was lost during the operation.”

He added that the joint security forces included; Police, Military and Operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante.
