The people of Okpoko in Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area erupted in joy as activist Osita Obi led a tour of the various projects executed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Obi, at the helm of the Solution Marshalls – a group comprising commercial drivers from the state, including Keke, truck, and shuttle bus drivers – aimed to evaluate the utilization of taxpayer funds and provide an unbiased assessment of government activities.
Okpoko, a densely populated slum area with approximately two million residents, has benefited significantly from Soludo’s initiatives.
The Okpoko General Hospital and an extensive network of roads were among the notable projects that have transformed the community.
KC Nnadi, Senior Medical Officer in charge of the Okpoko General Hospital, praised Governor Soludo’s ingenuity in establishing the hospital in an area populated by indigent people.
She highlighted Soludo’s free antenatal services as unprecedented, noting that the facility, despite being underutilized, attends to an average of 120 patients monthly.
Governor Soludo has made significant strides in developing Okpoko, including commissioning 12 kilometers of roads out of the 15 kilometers representing nine roads awarded in the town, significantly improving the community’s connectivity.
The Okpoko General Hospital, a first in the community’s history, provides quality healthcare services, including free antenatal care.
Additionally, Soludo commissioned a pipe-borne water project to ensure access to clean water for the residents.
The project tour was met with enthusiasm, as a huge crowd welcomed the Soludo Marshall.
Obi’s independent evaluation underscores the transparency and accountability that Soludo’s administration has promised to deliver.
As Soludo continues to transform Okpoko, his commitment to urban regeneration and improving the lives of Anambra State residents remains unwavering.
The governor’s efforts have not only improved infrastructure but also enhanced the overall well-being of the community, earning him accolades from residents and stakeholders alike.
Obi’s initiative to evaluate government projects demonstrates the growing civic engagement and demand for accountability in Anambra State.
As Soludo’s administration continues to prioritize development and transparency, the people of Okpoko and beyond can expect a brighter future.
