On assumption of office as the Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ifeanyi Ikechebelu was quite clear on the direction, he wants to navigate UNIZIK for the attainment of his vision for the University.

He stated he was eager to create a “happy productive staff and happy progressive students” by pursuing justice and fairness in the University.

To achieve this, the Ag. VC rolled out what he called the short term goal which is five-fold and clearly captured in the following targets.
They include: Beautify UNIZIK, Light-Up UNIZIK, Excellent UNIZIK, Digitize UNIZIK, and Secure UNIZIK.

Just  48 hours of assumption of office, the Acting Vice-Chancellor has confronted the monster of darkness besieging the university by lighting up the campus.

The University had since three weeks been disconnected  from power grid before his assumption of office. He, however, made sure that he engaged the power supply company EEDC and power supply was effectively restored to the University on Friday.

A source in the university told THE RAZOR that: “True to his words, and within so short a time, UNIZIK has again been lit up, thus having the light-up UNIZIK target fulfilled in record time.”

Ikechebelu was quoted to have expressed his joy in seeing the restoration of power in in the institution.

He said: “The staff will be happy working in their offices with increased Productivity and in a convivial environment.

“I equally express delight that the students of the University would have a better learning environment as power supply is key to sustaining virtually all the activities in the University.

“We appeal to the staff and students to co-operate with us in ensuring an incremental positive change in the University,” he said.
