The African Director International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) Ambassador Dr. Johnny Metchie has congratulated his home state Anambra at its 32nd birthday.
Metchie who also doubles as the Deputy Commander General (Technical Services) of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) recalled that Anambra State was created on 27th August, 1991 and that the state has gone through various metamorphosis and vicissitudes since inception.
He said that the state evolved from the military era to its current democratic dispensation as evident in all the governors that have administered it begining with the first military administrator of the state in the person of Navy Captain Joseph Abulu who governed Anambra from August 27, 1991 to January 1st, 1992.
The World Peace Advocate who equally functions as the Prime Minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) and the President-General of Umueri community in Anambra-East council area of Anambra state, said that the likes of Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Dabo Aliyu, Mike Attah, Dr.Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Peter Obi, Dame Virgy Etiaba and Willie Obiano have taken turns respectively in the governance of Anambra state with monumental legacies as accomplishments.
He also observed that Anambra State is moving to greater heights with the current administration of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as seen in his resolve to make Anambra a liveable, lovable and prosperous home land for all and sundry.
He therefore added that 32 years on, there is a lot to celebrate on the journey so far while praising the efforts of past leaders and also commending the developmental approach of the incumbent state government.
The World Peace Ambassador who hailed Soludo’s urban regeneration and environmental protection policy through tree planting and regenerative agriculture, noted that the State is indeed headed for greener pastures under the present administration.
Metchie was equally cognisant of the fact that the present administration has declared a state of emergency on roads and to that extent converted the entire state into a construction site with over 200 kilometers of roads ongoing across the state.
He said at 32, Anambra State can boast of functional hospitals and that the citizens now have unlimited and unhindered access to comprehensive healthcare services through the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, adding that government has gone a step further to furnish hospitals with newly recruited qualified medical personnel.
On education, the community leader also observed that the present state government is improving teaching and learning in all government schools especially with the employment of over 5000 qualified teachers to achieve the objective of qualitative learning.
The DCG of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service who said that Anambra is safe when compared to what obtains in other states, stressed that the efforts of the state government is combating insecurity can not be overlooked because the government is working assiduously to fight insecurity to a standstill in collaboration with various security agencies in the state while wishing the government and citizens of Anambra State happy 32nd celebrations.
