Some lawyers who were in court on Tuesday to represent various parties in the celebrated case of the missing Anambra billionaire and estate developer, Mr. Benjamin Ezemma, complained bitterly that they were kept in the dark about the inability of the presiding judge to be in court for the matter.

The lawyers, some of them who came from outside the state, said they ought to have been informed earlier, adding that they spent scarce resources to come to Awka for the matter before the court clerk announced that the court would not sit.

Controversy has continued to trail the kidnap of Ezemma, the Managing Director of the high brow Dubai Estate, Awka, who started missing on November 12, 2024 and his whereabouts is still not known.

“This is an insult. They knew that the presiding judge would not be present and they allowed us to be wasting our time in court”, one of the senior lawyers said.

In the matter, a businessman, Ozo Jeff Nweke, the Chief Executive Officer of Mango and Lion Properties Ltd, was dragged to Anambra High Court, Awka, with Charge No: AWK/6c/2025, accusing him with others of allegedly kidnapping Ezemma on November 12, 2024

At the court premises were some leaders of Ezinano community in Awka who described as mischief, the allegation that Ozo Jeff Nweke, their illustrious son, had a hand in the missing of Ezemma.

Those who spoke said the allegation against Nweke was part of the grand plan of a neighbouring community they are in dispute over land, to tarnish his image.
