As the world commemorates the 2025 edition of World Teachers’ Day, the Labour Party Governorship candidate in the November 8 Anambra election, Chief Dr. George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), has assured teachers in the state of a renewed sense of dignity, welfare, and professional development if elected governor.
Moghalu, who made this known in a message to mark the occasion, described teachers as the “unseen architects of society and the pillars of national development.”
He noted that this year’s theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” underscores the urgent need for synergy among educators, parents, policymakers, and communities to transform the education sector.
According to the Labour Party flagbearer, his Education Recovery and Development Agenda will restore dignity to the teaching profession, promote continuous training, and make education free and compulsory for every child in Anambra State.
“Having an educator on the Labour Party ticket reinforces my belief in education as the bedrock of societal transformation,” Moghalu said, referring to his running mate, Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, a seasoned teacher.
He noted that Okaro embodies the virtues of discipline, mentorship, and service — qualities that his administration would uphold and promote if elected.
Moghalu further commended teachers across Nigeria for their resilience and sacrifice in nurturing future leaders despite daunting challenges.
He emphasized that beyond annual tributes, government must take concrete steps to build a system that respects teachers, rewards excellence, and prioritizes professional growth.
He maintained that collaboration remains the cornerstone of sustainable educational progress, stressing that “no education system can rise above the quality and cooperation of its teachers.”
“Education thrives when teachers, government, and communities work together to create an environment where knowledge is nurtured, curiosity is encouraged, and innovation is sustained,” Moghalu added.
Expressing optimism about the future, the Labour Party candidate said with the right investment and political will, Anambra can reclaim its pride as the intellectual capital of Nigeria, producing exceptional minds capable of driving national development and innovation.
While felicitating teachers on their special day, Dr. Moghalu extended heartfelt appreciation to all educators in Anambra and across Nigeria for their steadfast devotion to duty.
“On behalf of my family and campaign team, I celebrate all teachers who continue to shape our future with courage and conviction. You remain the pride of our nation. Happy World Teachers’ Day,” he added.
