The Nanka Youth Association (NYA) organized a landmark event, “A Day with Prof. Poly I. Emenike,” on January 2, 2025, at the Supreme Icon Hotel, Nanka, Orumba North.

The program celebrated the globally acclaimed scholar and entrepreneur, Prof. Poly I. Emenike, Ph.D., MON (ODENIGBO NANKA), for his outstanding contributions to the Nanka community and beyond.

The event drew Nanka youths from around the world and was graced by His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Ezeilo of Nanka Kingdom. The occasion was chaired by Chief Kofi Obijiofor, Onowu Nanka, while Rev. Canon Ifeanyi Ezeike, President General of the Nanka Patriotic Union (NPU), served as the Chief Host. Comr. Ken Okoli, Youth Leader of Nanka and ASATU YOUTH President General, represented the 179 communities of Anambra State as the event’s host.

The celebration honored Prof. Emenike for being a Role Model from Nanka and for winning the Star Role Model award for Orumba North LGA in a search for Role Models across the 179 communities of Anambra State, organized by the ASATU Youth Wing.

Chief Odenigbo’s life is an epitome of lessons and inspiration for the younger generation. Rising from a humble background, he defied odds to pursue education as a married man with children, later becoming a visiting professor and an accomplished entrepreneur. His generosity extends to offering land in Nanka for a world-class university, underscoring his commitment to education and community development.

The event featured encomiums as speakers took turns to honor Prof. Emenike. In his keynote speech, titled “Reflections and Recommendations for Nanka’s Progress,” he shared his inspiring journey, emphasizing hard work, resilience, and vision. He proposed actionable principles for success and innovative ideas to transform Nanka into a hub for sports, education, and literary excellence. His authorship of 21 books on personal and professional growth was also celebrated.

HRH Igwe Godwin Ezeilo, Onowu Nanka, the NPU President General, and other dignitaries unveiled a Compendium of Testimonies about Chief Prof. Poly I. Emenike, a collection of tributes highlighting his impact. Copies were shared freely, with promises of an online version for wider access.

The NYA also conferred the title of Grand Patron on three esteemed sons of Nanka: HRH Igwe Godwin Ezeilo, Chief Kofi Obijiofor (Onowu Nanka), and Chief Poly Emenike (Odenigbo Nanka). These awards recognized their dedication and service, inspiring the youth and fostering progress.

Notable attendees included former NPU Presidents General Chief Omeudo and Chief Bernard, alongside Engr. Vincent Ezeanaka, Chief Chidebe Ezegbo, Engr. Bertrand Asibe, Barr. Chika Ezenwankwor, and others. Deacon Kingsley Onuzulike, Chairman of the Planning Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, followed by a group photograph.

History was made as Chief Poly I. Emenike became the first Role Model for Nanka Youths worldwide and the first Star Role Model for Orumba North Youths.
