Former minister, Dr Chris Ngige has reacted to news that he was arrested this morning.

A press release by Ngige’s media aide, Emma Nzomiwu read đŸ‘‡đŸ‘‡đŸ‘‡

Please disregard the fake news circulating on social media on the arrest of His Excellency, Senator Chris Ngige OON, CON. He went to the ICPC yesterday, September 4, 2024, to assist the commission in an ongoing investigation of a project by the management staff of NSITF and the Ministry of Labour . Some of the management staff had in their statements alleged that they performed certain functions on a ministerial directive without presenting the necessary documentation.
He therefore had to honour the invitation to clarify issues to the commission. By next week, he will forward the documents in his possession as most could neither be seen in the policy files of the Ministry nor at the NSITF.

Sen. Ngige visited the headquarters of the ICPC by 12 noon and left around 4.30pm. He was treated with courtesy deserving of his status as an elder statesman.
