Nnewi Monarch Honours Umeh With Chieftaincy Title

The revered Igwe of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, has announced plans to confer a traditional chieftaincy title on Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District.

According to a notice signed by Prince Obi Orizu, Private Secretary to the Igwe, the honour is in recognition of Senator Umeh’s outstanding contributions to the development of Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.

The chieftaincy title will be conferred on Senator Umeh as part of the celebrations marking the Igwe’s 99th birthday and 61st year on the throne of Nnewi.

The notice reads in part: “His Royal Highness will particularly appreciate it if you can find time to attend this very important ceremony.

“This honour is in consideration of your contributions to the development of Anambra State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The Igwe’s decision to honour Senator Umeh is seen as a testament to the senator’s hard work and dedication to the service of his people.

Senator Umeh has been a vocal advocate for the interests of Anambra State and the Igbo people, working tirelessly to promote the welfare of his constituents.

The conferment of the chieftaincy title on Senator Umeh is expected to take place at the Nnewi Palace on December 28, 2024, and will be attended by dignitaries from across the state and beyond.
