Nov. 8 Poll: Come Let’s Kick out Soludo, Obiora Okonkwo Urges Ndi Anambra

Professor Obiora Okonkwo, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambrra State November 8 Governorship Election, has called on the people of the state to join him in his vision to reclaim the state from stagnation and place it on the path of sustainable development.

He urged the audience to support his candidacy, promising to work tirelessly to make Anambra State a shining example of excellence and good governance.

The declaration was made at the inauguration of his provisional campaign council for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, which took place on January 31, 2024, at Ire Village, Ogidi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State.

In his declaration speech, Okonkwo emphasized his commitment to transforming Anambra State into a prosperous, secure, and globally competitive hub.

Okonkwo highlighted his vision for the state, focusing on key areas such as security, good governance, economic transformation, job creation, infrastructure development, education, human capital development, agriculture, rural development, technology, and skill acquisition.

Okonkwo stressed that Anambra State is blessed with limitless potential, boasting some of the brightest minds, most industrious entrepreneurs, and resilient people in Nigeria.

Apparently rating low the performance of the the incumbent governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Okonkwo lamented that the state has not lived up to its full promise, citing lost opportunities, poor governance, and the scourge of insecurity.

The governorship aspirant assured the audience that his administration would prioritize the welfare and well-being of the people, particularly the youth, women, and vulnerable populations.

He pledged to champion policies and programmes that promote inclusive and transparent governance, where every citizen has a voice and a stake in the state’s collective prosperity.

Okonkwo also emphasized the importance of accountability, integrity, and excellence in governance, ensuring that state resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.

He promised to work tirelessly to unlock the industrial and commercial potential of Anambra State, creating a business-friendly environment that attracts investment, supports local entrepreneurs, and generates employment for the youth.

In the area of education, Okonkwo vowed to prioritize quality education, vocational training, and skills development, ensuring that young people are equipped for the future.

He also promised to take strategic and collaborative steps to institutionalize Nkwado Ogaranya (Igba Boi), re-invigorating the entrepreneurial spirit of Ndi Anambra.

Okonkwo emphasized the need to revolutionize agriculture in Anambra State, empowering farmers and creating an agribusiness ecosystem that ensures food security and wealth creation.

He cited the example of China, which has become the world leader in agriculture and food production despite having limited arable land.

With his declaration, Professor Obiora Okonkwo has formally joined the race for the governorship of Anambra State, promising to bring transformation and development to the state.

The election, scheduled for November 8, 2025, is expected to be a pivotal moment for Anambra State, and Okonkwo’s candidacy is likely to generate significant interest and debate in the coming months.
