The largest sub-clan in Anambra State, Omambala Union, has thrown its weight behind the candidacy of Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) flagbearer in the forthcoming November 8 governorship election.

Chukwuma, a foundation member of the Union, presented himself before Omambala leaders during their meeting at the Recreation Centre, Umueri, where he articulated his vision for the state.

His address drew thunderous approval from the gathering, which was described as a joyous reception for his candidacy.

Among the distinguished personalities at the meeting were retired Justice Paul Obidigwe, former Chief Judge of Anambra State; Chief Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chairman of the Union; traditional rulers (Ndi Igwe), and several prominent sons and daughters of Omambala.

In their collective declaration, the Union described Chukwuma as the people’s mandate and expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious at the polls.

Speaking at a related event, the YPP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Uzu Okagbue, commended the growing momentum of the campaign, noting that Anambra people are yearning for a new kind of leadership.

“This afternoon, I had the honour of being warmly hosted by my brother and our party’s 2023 Dunukofia House of Assembly candidate, Chief Basil Okechukwu Obidi, Agujiegbe na Dioka, a truly dynamic and philanthropic son of Dunukofia whose generosity and humane spirit continue to echo far beyond his immediate community,” Okagbue said.

He added: “In his country home, he welcomed me with open arms and, before his people, affirmed in clear and unmistakable terms that the candidature of Sir Paul and I represents the fresh leadership Anambra State urgently needs at this defining moment in our history. A leadership poised to refocus, redirect, and reenergize our state on the path of growth, development, and shared prosperity.”

Okagbue also disclosed that the deliberations with community leaders and campaign teams were “frank, passionate, and forward-looking,” climaxing in what he described as an electrifying declaration of loyalty and commitment to ensure overwhelming victory for the YPP ticket.

With Omambala Union’s endorsement and growing grassroots support, observers say the YPP campaign is gaining fresh traction ahead of the November 8 election.
