Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has awarded a five-year contract to Monimichelle Sports Ltd for the maintenance of the Awka Township Stadium.
Obiano on Monday visited the stadium to ascertain the level of ongoing construction work at the stadium.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and assured Anambra residents that the stadium would not be abandoned.
He said, “It is not enough to build the stadium, we are also putting measures in place for maintenance. And for this reason, Monimichelle Sports will take up the contract for a period of five years.”
The governor urged the contractor to ensure the pitch was ready for the male and female U-17 academicals final matches on December 28.
The CEO, Monimichelle Sports, Ebi Egbe, assured the governor of the timely completion of the pitch.
“It is a FIFA-standard casted pitch with state-of-the-art sporting facility ready to host any event. We assure the governor that this pitch will be ready to host the U-17 academicals final on December 28.
“This stadium will be maintained according to FIFA standards and we assure that every facility will be intact.”
