A seventy year old man from Ogoja, Cross River state, has lost his life in a ghastly motor accident that occurred along UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction Awka, involving one Coaster and an eighteen seater bus.
ABS gathered that the coaster bus carrying members of Knight of the Catholic Church, left Ogoja, in Cross Rivers State, for Abatete, Idemili North council area of Anambra state to attend the burial ceremony of one of their member, the late Dr Simon Ezego but got involved in an accident.
According to a victim of the accident Pastor Christian ikere, they noticed that the coaster was having brakes problems when they were leaving Ogoja for Anambra and despite every pleeas to the driver to work on the brakes, he turned deaf ears which resulted to the accident.
Another passenger in one of the coasters that were on the journey, Mr Chidiebere Chukwu said that they left in convoy of three coasters to be part of the burial ceremony happening tomorrow, adding that the one involved in the accident lost control of the brakes and was waving at other vehicles on motion to clear the road to avoid accident, but on getting to UNIZIK junction, an inter-city commercial vehicle was loading along the road and was hit by the coaster, causing the accident.
Meanwhile, the deceased has been deposited in a morgue, while twenty-nine other occupants of the vehicle were receiving treatment at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
