Orumba South LGA  Chairman strengthens vigilante to fight insecurity, procures vehicles, motorcycles

In a bid to stem the rising tide of insecurity in Anambra State, the Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrach Azubuike has launched three Toyota Sienna vehicles and three motorcycles to help the vigilante in the community secure the area.

Azubuike presented the vehicles, motorbikes and other security equipment to the state vigilante Organisation, Agunechemba Security Outfit to enhance local security operations.

Azubuike also led who led stakeholders on an inspection of the facilities and the ultra-modern Solution Digital Academy and the Orumba South Security Control Room.

The chairman said: “We need to fight insecurity in our local government, and we are employing holistic method. The equipment and the vehicles we have procured will help us the ensure safety around our space.

Orumba South is within the borders of Imo and Abia States, from where some criminal elements have been crossing over to terrorize the state.

Meanwhile, the local government has adopted a zoning formula for all elective positions, among the 15 communities in Orumba South.

During a meeting of the leaders of the area, it adopted an official zoning framework and political rotational charter for all elective and appointive positions, including the Council Chairman and Deputy, the Member representing Orumba South in the Anambra State House of Assembly, and Supervisory Councilors.

He said the move was to promote unity, political stability, equitable representation, and sustainable development across the area.

The resolution was reached at the conclusion of an Extraordinary General Assembly of Orumba South stakeholders, which further stipulated that of the three zones, no zone shall retain any political position for more than two consecutive tenures.

Various stakeholders of the local government commended the move, noting that it reflects the collective desire for fairness and balanced political participation, while assuring that the strengthened security will provide a safe environment for governance and community development.
