The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has revealed a memorable piece of advice given to him by the late former President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Obi, who placed third in the election, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after a condolence visit to Buhari’s family in Daura, Katsina State.
He recalled that during a consultation visit to the then-President ahead of the polls, Buhari urged him to prioritise the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“I had the opportunity of meeting him while I was campaigning. And I remember his words: ‘Please care for the poor Nigerians.’ That, I can still remember. And I believe he did his best within his capacity,” Obi revealed.
The former President died in London at the age of 82 and was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura.
The RAZOR News had earlier reported his passing following a prolonged health battle.
Buhari, a key figure in Nigeria’s political history, served as military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a two-term elected President from 2015 to 2023.
