PG of Uke Community, Onyejegbu Appointed ASTUC Media Coordinator

News

The chairman of Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC), Sir Vin Dike has appointed the President General of Uke community, Chief Peter Chibuike Onyejegbu as the media coordinator of the group.

Onyejegbu, a seasoned media practitioner is also a staff of the Anambra State ministry of information.

While disclosing the news of his appointment to journalists, Onyejegbu said: “May I bring to your attention my recent appointment as the Media Coordinator to Anambra State Town Unions Council (ASTUC).

“This appointment is significant as it is one of the select few positions approved by the council’s chairman today.

“With this appointment, Uke community is now fully represented in ASTUC. This is a notable achievement, considering the council’s reorganization by Mr Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.”

Recall that Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo recently changed the name of the group, from Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) to Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC).

The Governor also streamlined its state executives from nearly 30 positions to just 6, paving ways for a more efficient governance structure. Soludo also changed the leadership structure, appointing Sir Dike as Chairman of the council as against the previous structure which adopted the nomenclature of National President.

He said the rebranding will not only enhance effectiveness in community leadership and governance but also formalize Town Unions Council as the fourth tier of government.

Onyejegbu will henceforth be faced with the task of projecting a positive image of the council to the people, and also handling it’s public relations. The position will require a lot of strategic thinking and image laundering, which Onyejegbu has proved himself of being capable of.
