Trainees of the federal government’s poverty eradication programme in Anambra state, have hailed President Bola Tinubu for such initiative, saying the programme has opened their eyes.

It was during the Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) Evaluative Meeting held at the Leisure Resort and Hotel in Awka, Tuesday

In his key note address, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Emeka Obi,said they came together to review the impact and effectiveness of the N PRGS programme

He said it was designed to to accelerate national development by lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within a decade through four core pillars.

The pillars ,according to him, were Macroeconomic stabilization, industrialization, trade and growth and retributive programs.

Obi said it reaffirmed the federal government’s unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive growth, job creation and national prosperity

For Hajia Olasumbo Ayinde-Yakub, Deputy Director in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation, praised Tinubu for such key government initiative.

She said the evaluative workshop is essential to assess the impact, efficiency and sustainability of the intervention specifically, impact on the life of the beneficiaries and communities in Anambra state

However, the beneficiaries commended the federal government for such opportunities, but pleaded for funds to train others and expand their scope

Some of them who spoke with The Razor after the programme, blamed the Anambra state government for some of their woes, by not being sincere from what comes from the FG

” We heard that the sum of 200,000 naira was mapped out to settle trainees in lifting them out of poverty, but we were getting 10,000 naira, 15,000 and 35,000 naira and such amount can never take you anywhere”
