The Supreme Court has come out to denounce the alleged amendment/alteration purportedly effected on the judgments of the 5 Justices that sat on the appeal filed by Chief Jude Okeke against APGA and her National Chairman, Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye.
It will be recalled that following the judgment procured by Chief Jude Okeke at the Jigawa High Court, the National Chairman of APGA had sought and obtained the leave of the Court of Appeal to appeal against the said judgment as an interested party. After hearing in the said appeal, the Special Panel of the Court of Appeal presided over by His Lordship, Hon Justice Haruna Tsammani delivered their judgment setting aside the judgment of Jigawa High Court and proclaiming Ozonkpu Dr Victor Ike Oye as the duly elected National Chairman of APGA. The said judgment of the Court of Appeal, Kano Division was affirmed by the Supreme Court in a unanimous judgment delivered by the 5 Justices that sat on appeal.
Surprisingly, Chief Edozie Njoku, who was not a party to the appeal (as his application for Joinder was struck out by the Supreme Court), has been parading a CTC of enrolled Order of the Supreme Court purportedly signed by Hon Justice Kekeren Ekun, the most senior of the Justices that sat on the panel following the retirement of Hon Justice Mary Odili. The said enrolled Order was purpotedly certified on the 15th of July, 2022. It was equally alleged that other Justices that sat on the panel effected similar alterations to their respective judgments.
However, shocking revelations emanating from the Supreme Court points to a large scale criminal collusion between Chief Edozie Njoku and some junior staff of the Supreme Court in doctoring judgments of the Supreme Court without the knowledge or authority of the Justices that sat on the appeal. A senior staff of the Supreme Court (name withheld) clearly denounced the alleged amendment/alteration to the judgments of the Justices as one that never took place. He stated that the Justices of the Supreme Court proceeded on their annual vacation on the 8th day of July, 2022 and thus wondered where and when the Justices allegedly did the alteration which was allegedly done on the 15th of July, 2022.
Further investigation revealed that the doctoring of the lead judgment was done in Appeal No SC/686/2021 which was clearly an appeal between Chief Jude Okeke Vs Alhaji Garba Aliyu and INEC. Neither Ozonkpu Dr Victor Oye nor Edozie Njoku was a party to the said sister appeal at the Supreme Court.
Consequently, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court has ordered a large scale investigation into the forgery and mutilation of the judgment of the Supreme Court with a view to fishing out Edozie Njoku’s accomplices. It is certain that Edozie Njoku will be charged for the criminal offence of tampering with the sacred records and judgments of the Supreme Court.
Reacting to the development, the National Chairman of APGA has called on the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwoola to protect the sanctity and integrity of the apex court in the country by ensuring that the matter is not swept under the carpet
