A graduate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Mr. Emmanuel UcheOlisa Anisiobi, has paid a courtesy visit to Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, to express heartfelt gratitude for sponsoring his education through the Senator’s scholarship scheme.
Mr. Anisiobi, a native of Nwanchi Village, Agulu, was accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Appolonia Anisiobi, during the visit on Saturday. He was among the 76 students awarded scholarships by Senator Umeh in 2018, when the lawmaker served in the 9th Senate.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Anisiobi acknowledged that the scholarship enabled him to complete his Degree in History and International Studies, describing Senator Umeh’s intervention as life-changing.
Senator Umeh, who initiated the scholarship program to support indigent students in tertiary institutions, has since expanded the scheme. Currently, he is financing the education of 327 students across various universities and colleges, surpassing his initial campaign promise.
The gesture has continued to draw commendation from beneficiaries and their families, who see the initiative as a beacon of hope for young people striving to achieve academic excellence despite financial challenges.
