Senator Dr. Ubanesse Igbeke has applauded the appointment of Professor Kate Omenugha as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), describing the development as both meritorious and historic.

Senator Igbeke, a well-known management consultant and financial adviser to Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, said Professor Omenugha’s emergence as the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution marks “a trailblazing moment of superfluous history.”

In his remarks, the former lawmaker commended the academic for her “exceptional leadership, dedication and contributions to academia,” stressing that her appointment is a reflection of merit and a beacon of inspiration.

“This milestone reflects Professor Omenugha’s excellence and vision,” Senator Igbeke said, adding “Her achievement is truly inspiring because it speaks with the force of power to her brilliance and leadership qualities.”

The senator expressed confidence that Omenugha’s tenure would not only elevate COOU to greater heights but also inspire generations of scholars and administrators.

Turning to the state government, Igbeke praised Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for what he described as an unwavering commitment to integrity and excellence in public service.

He said the governor’s decision to appoint Omenugha was a demonstration of principled leadership and merit-driven governance.

He urged members of the university community to rally behind the new Vice Chancellor, assuring that collaborative leadership would usher in growth, innovation, and success for the institution.
