Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has taken bold steps to address the growing security concerns and boost infrastructure development in the state.

In the 33rd Anambra State Executive Council meeting held on October 29, 2024, the council resolved to tackle insecurity head-on, identifying kidnapping, cult killing, armed robbery, and other crimes as priority areas to be rooted out in the coming weeks ¹.

As part of the security reorganization, Governor Soludo swore in Kenneth Okwuchukwu Emeakayi as the new Special Adviser on Community Security.

This move demonstrates the governor’s commitment to enhancing public safety.

In addition to security measures, the council approved several key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Anambra State.

These projects include the dualization and construction of Nwagu Agulu to Nnobi to Nnewi Road, spanning 18.6 km, awarded to Lebtech Constructions Ltd at ₦33.557 billion with a 12-month project timeline.

Another significant project is the dualization and construction of Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road, covering 16.51 km, awarded to Ferotex Construction Company at ₦30.918 billion with an 18-month project timeline ¹.

Other notable projects include the construction of the iconic Light of the Nation Tower and Fountain at Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, awarded to IDC Construction Ltd at ₦980 million with a 4-month project timeline, and the supply and installation of medical equipment for the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, awarded to De Jotlims Medical Ltd at ₦236.371 million with a 2-month project timeline.

These initiatives aim to significantly improve the quality of life for Anambra State residents, aligning with Governor Soludo’s vision of transforming the state into an African version of Taiwan-Dubai.
