Soludo’s Urban Renewal Takes Shape: Oduigbo Market Onitsha Gets N475.8m Facelift

In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s urban renewal vision, the Anambra State Government has approved the reconstruction of Oduigbo Market Onitsha, with a contract sum of N475,776,756.20, to be completed within three months.

This decision was reached during the 31st Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held on Tuesday, where key projects aimed at enhancing the state’s infrastructure and economic development were approved.

Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD, disclosed that the market reconstruction project was part of the Soludo administration’s efforts to provide a conducive business environment and boost economic activities in the state.

According to Mefor, the contract was awarded after considering a memo presented by the Chairman of Anambra Urban Regeneration Council (AURC), Arc. Michael Okonkwo.

The Anambra State Government also approved contracts for the rehabilitation of critical roads in the state.

The Nnewi to Oba road rehabilitation project was awarded at a cost of N131,343,612.28. This project aims to ensure pleasurable movement of people and goods, particularly during the rainy season.

Additionally, the rehabilitation of Nkpor to Obosi Road was awarded to the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) at a sum of N63,193,633.14.

The agency will also oversee the rehabilitation of Nteje to Otuocha road, estimated to cost N50,440,849.73.

These road projects are designed to enhance connectivity, facilitate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

Governor Soludo’s urban renewal initiative aims to transform Anambra State into a hub for business, commerce, and tourism.

The reconstruction of Oduigbo Market Onitsha and the rehabilitation of critical roads are key components of this initiative.

The Soludo administration remains committed to delivering projects that benefit the people and drive sustainable development in the state.

The projects are expected to boost economic activities, improve infrastructure, and enhance the living standards of residents.
