
In a bid to strengthen ties with the public, the Anambra State Police Command has pledged to partner with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to organize sports competitions with market communities and relevant stakeholders .
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu made this proposal while receiving members of SWAN’s Anambra State Chapter at his office in Awka on March 17, 2025.
He emphasized that this initiative would promote social cohesion, improve communication between law enforcement and the public, and create a positive environment for community engagement.
The partnership aims to showcase the importance of sports in building bridges between law enforcement and the community.
Chairman of SWAN Anambra State Chapter, Chimezie Anaso, expressed gratitude for the partnership opportunity and assured the Command of SWAN’s readiness to collaborate .
The Police Command and SWAN will review the proposal to select participants and determine the competition’s theme.
This initiative demonstrates CP Orutugu’s commitment to community policing and public engagement, which is crucial in ending violent crimes in the state.
The state since Orutugu assumed office on February 10,2025 has witnessed a zero gunshot from the police and criminals.
