Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has again called for more employment opportunities in the state, even after engaging over 8,000 teachers and more than 1,000 health workers in his administration’s effort to strengthen critical sectors.

In line with the employment drive, the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA) has announced fresh recruitment of community-based health workers to boost primary healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

The available positions include Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEWs) and Assistant Community-Based Health Workers. Applicants are expected to possess qualifications such as FSLC, WAEC, JCHEW certificates, valid professional licenses, NIN, while computer proficiency will be an added advantage.

Applications should be submitted online via https://rb.gy/9hwp8r on or before September 8, 2025, while interviews will hold on September 9, 2025, at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Aroma, Awka. The notice was signed by Pharm. (Mrs) Chisom Uchem, Executive Secretary of ASPHCDA.

Speaking in Awka on Wednesday during a news conference to mark Anambra’s 34th anniversary, Soludo said his administration’s focus remains on “genuine stomach infrastructure,” which he defined as the provision of essential services that improve citizens’ living standards rather than short-term palliatives.

“Stomach infrastructure is not about distributing cash or offering appointments as special advisers. It is about ensuring that residents of Anambra have access to the basic necessities needed to live with dignity and rise out of poverty,” Soludo said.

He highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the distribution of over 2.6 million palm and coconut seedlings to 180,000 households, free education in public schools, free antenatal and delivery services in government hospitals, and the payment of a minimum wage of N82,000.

Other initiatives, according to him, include the recruitment of 8,115 teachers and more than 1,000 health workers, clearance of pension arrears and gratuities, youth empowerment programmes, and the commissioning of over 600 kilometres of roads.

“Deploying public resources to create societal values is better than dashing money. That is what Anambra at 34 is about—our values are based on hard work and integrity,” he added.
